Middle School Robotics

Three Middle School Robotics teams competed in the FIRST LEGO League Challenge Division, where they worked together starting in August to develop both an autonomous LEGO robot design that could earn points in up to 15 different missions and an independent innovation project that solves a real-world problem of their choice.
Following this year’s theme of “Submerged,” teams chose to tackle problems ranging from reducing bycatch in commercial fishing, to using ocean currents to generate renewable energy, to minimizing the impact of underwater noise pollution on marine habitats with active noise cancelling technology. Teams then presented and were judged on their designs and engineering process by a panel of industry professionals at the FIRST LEGO League contests.

All three teams performed outstandingly at their Qualifiers advanced to the North Texas Regionals. Please congratulate the Programming Pufferfish and Gadget Guppies on an amazing season and wish The Aquabots luck as they continue on to compete the Texas State Championship in Haslet, TX on March 1.
